FFP3 RESPIRATORY PROTECTION FACE MASK FACTS

FFP is the European compliance standard, the highest level of which is FFP3. 

In the case of filter-type respirators (such as the recommended FFP3 filter class respirators), the inhaled air flows through a filter, which, by retaining and filtering the pollutant, removes and/or binds particulate, gas, and vapor pollutants from the air.

The purpose of respiratory protective devices dependent on ambient air is to reduce the amount of airborne pollutants inhaled into the body to a level that is not harmful to health (tolerable). This also means that we cannot expect complete, i.e. 100% protection. The reason for this lies in the suction. During inhalation, ambient air can enter the interior of the respirator (directly into the breathing zone) from the ambient air along the face and the protective device's closing frame, as well as at valves and other structural elements.

Particle-filtering half masks are marked FFP (Filtering Facepiece Particulare). Based on their performance, filtering efficiency and maximum total suction, they can be classified into classes 1, 2 and 3, with class 3 being the most effective.
